Week 1 — Introduction
- Figma's Learn Design — What is Design?
- What problem(s) would you be trying to solve when designing...
- A music-streaming app?
- A website for this course?
- A community center in your neighborhood?
- How might those problems relate? How might they differ?
- What is an example of something you think is well-designed? Describe (2-3 sentences) what it is and why you like it.
- Write your own "Design is ____" phrase and briefly explain it.
- Figma’s Learn Design — Design Thinking & Ethics
- Describe (3-4 sentences) a commonly used product, app, or experience with a trait or problem that makes it uncomfortable, difficult, or impossible to use for some audiences. Some things you can consider are language, color contrast, physical accessibility, and audio/video.
- Describe (2-3 sentences) why you think that product/app/experience's designers created it that way. What unconscious biases did they have? What audiences did they not consider or prioritize?
